Dress Code
Pine Haven dress is casual and modest. We typically have one dress-up night each week, so be sure to pack a nice outfit for that evening. No offensive writing or pictures on t-shirts is allowed. Campers should not bring tank tops with spaghetti straps, midriff-baring shirts, pants so low as to expose briefs, tight or short pants/shorts. Our waterfront requires one-piece swimming suits.
What NOT to Bring
Cell phones, iPods, radios, tape/CD/MP3 players, computers, electronic toys, magazines, fireworks, water guns, skateboards, weapons, tobacco, alcohol or other drugs
PHCA "No Cell Phone" Policy
We have a "no cell phone" policy at camp. The facts are that cell phones are expensive and can be lost or stolen, and the physical camp environment is not kind to such items. Our ultimate concern, however, is that the camp is a place which is "unplugged" from the entanglements with which we have become so familiar and the noise that can easily distract us from listening for the voice of Christ in our lives. We desire a camp environment free from distractions caused by cell phones, iPods, mp3 players, and the like.
We agree to contact parents if a child is experiencing a challenge in their adjustment to camp. Parents can help by talking with their child(ren) before leaving for camp and telling them that there is always someone they can reach out to, whether it be their cabin leader, family leader, a trusted faculty or staff member, the dean of their week, or the camp manager. We are all here to help!
If a child needs to call home, they can talk with the deans of the week to make arrangements. In an emergency, parents can also reach their camper(s) by calling the camp number: 218-732-9419.
If a child needs their cell phone for the trip to and from camp, no problem! At registration, they will turn it in to the staff and we'll keep it locked up and safe during the week. They can pick up their phone at the canteen on departure day. Please be sure they bring a camera and alarm clock along as their phone will be inaccessible for those purposes.
