Since Pine Haven Christian Assembly began, the Lodge has been the center point of the camp’s facility.

During the past sixty-seven summers, thousands of campers have gathered in the Lodge to sing, to pray, to worship and to learn.  Many campers have had the pleasure of bunking upstairs in the Lodge.  Fireside in the Lodge has been and is a treasured part of the Pine Have Christian Assembly experience.  The Lodge has served Pine Haven well.

However, after many decades of faithful service, the Lodge needs some major repairs in order for it to continue to serve the camp for decades to come.  Due to rot and insect damage, eleven logs need to be replaced.  Seventeen crowns (the exterior corners where logs overlap) also need to be replaced.  The logs on the exterior of the building must be sandblasted to remove all the old paint.  A borate preservative will be applied to the logs and then the Lodge will have to be completely re-stained.  In addition, the emergency exit stairs on the north side of the Lodge must be replaced.

Much of this work is beyond the skills of our volunteer labor.  It will cost $28,000 to have the log restoration done professionally.  Replacing the stairs, staining the exterior of the Lodge and other work could add another $5000-$7000 to the cost of this project.  As you may be aware, the camp embarked on two major building projects during the past two years including: a complete renovation of Pine Point Cabin, and the addition of a handicap bathroom and infirmary on the south side of the bathhouse.  These projects have stretched the camp’s resources to the limit.  We need to complete the work on the Lodge before it deteriorates further.  In fact, it is our plan to have the work done before the 2008 camp season.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to complete this much needed restoration without the help of those whose lives have been touched by Pine Haven Christian Assembly and our beloved Lodge.  We are asking those who love the Lodge and know the importance of Christian camping to help.  Will you make a generous gift to help preserve the Lodge?
